Wow, it really has been a long time since my last blog. I hope to keep this blog going a bit better this year and really share info and ideas between friends!
This winter has been a real challenge to find fun things my 2.5 year old son Ty and I to do together. He has not started preschool yet, so this winter has really forced me to become extra creative, finding cheap or free activities around the city and suburbs to do inside!! My goal this spring is to populate this blog with a whole bunch of great resources and ideas for parents. Entertainment ideas, kids classes, kid friendly restaurants, awesome toys, great crafts etc...
But I can't do it all myself! So this post is a friendly request to all my awesome friends to contribute if you can!
Since I am sending out this request.....I will get the ball rolling! Please shoot me an email with ideas, comment right here on the blog or post something to my facebook! I will then add it to my blog so that you can check back to one single spot for sweet mama stuff!!!
I'll start us off with some fun places to go! If you have checked out any inexpensive new places that your kids loved recently please post it!!
Thanks everyone!

*****Places to Go!******
Idea #1-
Museum of Science and Industry
Ages- 2+
Price- Free with a Chicago Public Library Pass
Parking- Free on the street if your willing to walk a block or two!
Ty and I have made the rounds this winter to most of the major Chicago museums. But the one we keep going back to is the M of S & I. If you are a Chicago resident you can check out FREE museum family passes to all the museums around Chicago. It seems as if it is a pretty awesome deal right? Well, it can be if you go to the right museum! The passes allow you free general admission to the museums. The catch is that some of them require a pretty large entrance fee to the really good exhibits that are not included in general admission (cough cough....shedd....cough aquarium cough...). The best one I have found yet is the Museum of Science and Industry. It is fantastic for all ages, even those as young as 2! Planes, trains, automobiles, tornadoes, baby chicks, kids water play area, fairy castle....and the list goes on and on! General admission is all you need there!
Idea #2-
Jump Zone! http://www.jumpzoneparty.com/
Ages: 2+
Price- Pop in play is $8
Parking- Free
Jump zone is one of the many inflatable party zones around the city and suburbs. We tried it last week with a friend an really liked it! This particular play zone is in Niles. If you live up north it is a short car ride away! Check out their website for drop in play times and don't forget to check out the cool character themed bouncers and slides! Firetrucks, dinosaurs, princesses, Disney characters...you name it....they can slide and bounce on it!
Sweet Mama Stuff!

Diaper Cream!
One of the reasons I started this blog was because of a diaper cream I recieved in a gift basket when Ty was born! I absent-mindedly ommited it from my last post so here it is:
Calmoseptine Ointment - http://www.walgreens.com/search/search_results.jsp?term=calmoseptine
It is not typically stocked at drug stores so you have to ask the pharmacist to order it for you....or you can get it online at walgreens.com
It really works wonders. I knocks out diaper rash better than anything I have ever seen. It works increadibly quickly too! What makes it different from other diaper creams is that it is much thicker and seems to stay in place better. It also has calamine lotion in it...which helps keep the moisture out. I am telling you...it is like magic!

Cool websites, yummy snacks and more!
Our very first suggestions....
Thanks ladies for your input!
Mama Val and Baby Will suggest-
www.chicago.momslikeme.com
I checked this out and wondered why I hadn't found it sooner. It is pretty cool. It has coupons you can clip, discussion forums, and even a marketplace where you can buy and sell things like Craig's list. I just had a girlfriend buy a jumparoo off craigslist.com recently and she got it for half the price and it was in perfect condition. I imagine you might be able to get some cool things from mom's who don't need them anymore in chitown on this site! We all need bargins these days right? -jess
--------------------------------------------------
Mama Shannon, little Addy and baby Audrey suggest:
SNACKS- Whole Foods Fruit Strips (tastes great and are healthy!)
Any freeze dried fruit from Whole Foods or Trader Joes
BATH PRODUCT - California Baby "Cold & Flu" bubble bath and body wash.
Great for when they are stuffy and good for pregnant moms too.
http://www.californiababy.com
SANITIZING - Clean Well is my ultimate favorite product for cleaning/sanitizing.
It is all natural (no alcohol) and it really works. They make wipes, spray, and hand soaps.
It is sold at Whole Foods and Target. I use it with my newborn too.
--------------------------------------------------
Mama Rachel and little Sienna suggest:
TEETING - Hyland Teething Tablets
http://www.hylands.com/products/teething.php
SNACKS - Stonyfield Farm YoBaby yogurts.
They have them in smoothies too so you can pour them into a sippy cup as a great portable snack.
--------------------------------------------------
Mama Jess (me!) and baby Ty suggest:
SNACKS - Baby Mum Mums
(you can snag them at Southport grocery or I saw some at babies-r-us too!)
They are an awesome snack and a great first food. It is a rice rusk with very little ingredients and
kids seem to love them. Ty gets excited everytime I open a package. They dissolve quickly so little babes won't choke.
http://www.babymummum.com.au/
Trader Joe's Apple Crushers
They are all natural with no sugar added and come in a little capri-sun type squeezy thingy that are great for your diaper bag or a lunch box!
--------------------------------------------------
Ok so that is it so far! I will try to add things as they come to me! So please keep coming back!

Welcome mamas!
Shortly after Ty was born last year, a friend of mine with triplet girls sent me an increadible gift. Instead of sending the typical baby clothes and toys.....among lots of other goodies she sent me a diaper cream that I swear can be used to treat just about any ailment on earth! Due to the size of her brood...she claims to have become the ulitmate consumer of baby products. After using the diaper cream on Ty guy recently...I became a believer. After this experience I decided I wanted to share some of my discoveries with my friends who were new to this mommy thing. So when a friend of mine had her first baby, I put together a gift of practical useful baby loot that would hopefully help her save time, money and most importantly her mind....
Because I really have enjoyed all the advice and tips I have gotten from friends and family this past year, I am asking for it once again! I would like to make this blog a place where all of our mama friends (and daddies too!) can go and share cool discoveries and find solutions to everyday needs that come up. We all know that with growing kids, each day presents a new and unique set of needs and wants....both by our kids and us! I initially sent out an email to some friends of mine asking for some of their favorites and I will include those on this first post! Thanks girls!
I think this blog could be a really cool resource for mamas if we share all sorts of information. Anything you find helpful! Anything at all.
Websites, recipies, cleaning products, baby products, baby and kids stores you love, fun activites or events for kids....anything and everything!
Thanks in advance for all your suggestions and help! I will try to post often with new ideas so please sign up to follow the blog or check back soon!
